 Movie Recommendation

 Author:  Topic:  Posted:

Since this is News for Grown-ups, I think many of you will like a mystery for grown-ups.

It's about trust and betrayal. Real characters and plenty of misdirection keep your attention.

My two-year old tells me I'm finished with the computer, so that's all for now. See it and tell me what you think.

jvance. I have seen Lantana, and rate it highly. If you are after a movie with cutting-edge special effects, impressive computer graphics, a high kill count, over-the-top explosions and "insane" car chases, then this movie is probably not for you. If, on the other hand, you are after an intelligent script that explores some of the more subtle complexities of human relationships in a realistic manner with a cast that can act, you should not be disappointed.

I suspect that teenagers and Lunix users may find this movie "slow", "boring" and "stupid". That is okay. Grown-ups will find much to think and talk about.

Please do not be put off by the fact that the movie won a number of AFI awards. It is not a "quirky" antipodean film like some you may (or may not) have seen.

You know you've accomplished something special when you post movie commentary that makes me think you're a pretentious, condescending twit.

There is "good" anime?

Of course there is! (none / 0) (#9)

"3y3" like the "japanimation" with tentacles and orifices and shit.

It's a cultural relativism thing. (none / 0) (#10)

If there are good french art-house movies, then there are good anime movies.

Thanks! (5.00 / 1) (#8)

getting me off of the computer is a good thing. And in all seriousness, time spent away from the computer and with the little tyke is a double bonus.

... that family values continue to thrive despite constant barrage by the liberals.
