The fact that they don't have to go up against Gramm's huge warchest, that the Republican funds are already spread pretty thin because so many seats are up, there are a lot of strong liberal candidates, and because all the Democrats are so pissed about what happened in 2000, I think this is the best chance that the Democrats have had in Texas in quite a while.</p><p>On the other hand, the current Governor, Rick Perry, went to Washington and is conspiring with Bush to attempt to get Grahm to retire right now, so that Perry can appoint a hand-picked Republican who can then run as an incumbant.</p>
