 The sad truth...

I'm still using a 56k modem to connect to the internet. I do not have DSL. I do not have a cable modem. I do not have a T3.

I am one of the last, the few, and the wretched. My life will never be respectable until I get a faster connection to the net.

I've also played today, for the first time in many years, chess. Chess on Yahoo! Games. The only reason I went there initially was to spy on LdyDeath's game, but I got bored and started up a game of my own. What shocked and amazed me was that I could actually play the game quite well. At least up until my ISP disconnected me and wouldn't let me sign-on again for another 18 minutes (someone else stole my virtual seat in the meantime; that kuro5hin-posting, chess-seat-stealing bastard deserves a lungful of anthrax).

Anyhow, if anyone would like to play chess with me (I'm still a beginner, btw), make a comment and I'll try to squeeze you into my busy, busy, busy schedule.

that last item in the poll is SUPPOSED to say "a pathetic use of scoop". I goofed up

up at 3 in the morning because I can't sleep...*sigh*

I wish I didn't have so much to worry about...

I also found... (none / 0) (#4)

a form mail reply from someone who visited my website, saying that it's a "great site". Ordinarily, I'd take this as a compliment, but I *know* that that site is not of the quality that should deserve such a statement. Therefore, the poster must be a troll. It's the only logical explanation. It's probably the ONLY explanation.

Then you know what you must do... (none / 0) (#5)

Delete that mail immediately. And whatever you do, do not respond to it.

Trolls thrive on recognition. Once they realise they are not welcome they will get the message and give up. Even if you only suspect a posting may be a troll, the best policy is to ignore it.

Adequacy has been deleting all trolls at this site for nearly two years now. We found that at first they kept coming back, but now everyone knows about our strict "zero tolerance for trolls" policies, the number of trolls has diminished to a very small level, and they are easily dealt with by the vigilant team of editors here.
