 A poem

 Author:  Topic:  Posted:
Oct 01, 2001
This is a poem that I wrote recently.

I have never written much poetry before so I was surprised by how good my poem is. At this point I'm thinking that I should consider this whole professional poetry writer career more carefully. Perhaps, that would be a good way to make some money after graduation. So feel free to read the poem but please don't post it to this Napster thing until I have looked into the business aspects more extensively.

New Poetry
Jin has returned
In Love

I am most thoroughly
Enamored with your nose.

In this world
There is no other
Equally delectable little knob
Of flesh and cartilage
As yours.

To conclude your proboscis
Is a place
I want to place
My kisses on.

A little long, but I like it...

Flying though a haze of thought
Shimmering visions here-dissapear
Precious moments ride the wind
Here-not-here, in one heart's beat
Summer, Winter, Life and Death
A vicious cycle round and round
Blurring sight and raising dust
Hiding the whole, the outer track

Question not
Let it be
A worthy cause
A dream in life
All things end
Enjoy them now
Let it grow
Fed from us

Nothing ends in all true sense
Existential phantoms still
The spirit, soul, the inner truth
The life lives on, in other forms
The mountains fall, but do not die
The rivers rise, into the sky
Life moves on, beyond our sight
But never gone beyond our grasp

Never ask
Always tell
Shape the void
Give it form
Live a dream
Make it so
Exert your will
Craft your dream

Twisting, turning, drawn by light
A jagged path, no clear direction
Lost within, an inner maze
Shifting walls, a transient hope
No clear goal, no single exit
Success and failure indistinguished
One step forward, in a different light
Is twisted now, two steps back

Live, just live
Don't look ahead
What you see
Won't be there
Do what's right
For now, just now
Improve today
To ensure tomorrow

As a child I wanted to know everything. Now I miss my ignorance.

Dear Mr. 27: I regret to inform you that... (5.00 / 1) (#4)

Dear Mr. 27:

Thank you for your recent submission, "In Love" for publication in Luminous Void: A Poetry Journal.

Unfortunately, we are unable to publish your poem at this time. While "In Love" shows an admirable economy of language and thought, it fails to speak to the most pressing issues of our time. If, for example, you had written to your love that you loved her nose, but had to go ruminate on the evils of corporate logos or on the need for debt relief in Vanuatu, things might have been different.

Wishing you all the best in your future endeavors.
